This weekend Beyonce did it again with an epic performance at Coachella. She returned to the stage with one the Blackest performances in a long time. From HBCU marching bands to Black Greek Lettered Organizations, Bey was repping blackness. After watching this live stream on two separate occasions we found some nuggets particularly geared towards Black Student leaders. Follow this BeyChella checklist and you’ll be a better leader on campus.

1. Learn the Black National Anthem

4. Read the Autobiography of Malcolm X as told by Alex Haley

5. Research the history of Black Greek organizations. Read African American Fraternities and Sororities: The Legacy and the Vision

6. Watch a Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Ted Talk

7. Take a trip to an HBCU and watch the marching bands

8. Listen to Fela Kuti (Here’s 12 minutes of brilliance)

9. Do some Afro LatinX programming

10. Swag Surf with your friends

11. Don’t be afraid to be the first person to do something! LEAVE THAT LEGACY

12. Lead with enthusiasm

13. Pay attention to all the details

14. Sometimes you’ll just have to better than anyone else

15. Turn up to Pastor Troy’s No Mo Play in GA (Pardon the language. NSFW) Also, suggested turn up in the confines of your home. Please don’t fight lol

16. Make sure the Black Student Union and Caribbean student organizations are collaborating

17. Read up on the Black Panthers. Black Against Empire: The History and Politics of the Black Panther Party

18. Ride out with your day ones
