The Life of Pablo’s Programs
Trill or Not Trill?

img_7292Kanye West dropped a new album last week and so this week we drop some new programs, ice breakers and team builders based on The Life of Pablo. (By the way, This album is starting to really grow on me.)

TITLE: The Playlistpablo
Prior to Kanye releasing his album, there were multiple title changes and song selections. Time to make your own leadership and cultural playlist.
Participants randomly select 3 song titles from The Life of Pablo. Each song represents one of the following.
1st Song: how does this title represent a positive or negative cultural moment in your life. What did you learn from this moment?
2nd Song: how does this title represent a positive or negative leadership experience in your life. What did you learn from this experience.
3rd Song: use this song title in sentence or phrase that describes your personal or leadership experience
What did the titles help you recognize about your experiences?
Were there any other song titles you’d wish you selected?
• Articulate personal skills, abilities, and areas for growth
• Develop critical thinking methods

For use as a quicker icebreaker: participants select one song.
Then explain how that song defines an aspect of their life or their experiences.

TITLE: The life of….kaynedance
DESCRIPTION: Kanye left people wondering which Pablo was he talking about in reference to his new album title. Guesses included Pablo Escobar and Pablo Picasso. Word is, he might be talking about the Apostle Paul.
Find two people with identical first names. They can be friends, family, fictional or historical figures that share the same name. You will now create your personal album title (The Life of …) using their names. The people you’ve selected should reflect and be a representation of your leadership style or personal life (facilitator can decide to use options other than the aforementioned).
After selecting the names also state why you selected them.
Example: The life of Michael…
Michael in this example stands for Michael Jackson and Jordan.
I chose Jordan because I have winner’s mindset and I strive to be he best. I chose Jackson because I enjoy entertaining others while being innovative and creative.
How did you go about choosing the names?
Can you name a 3rd person with same name who provides an additional outlook?
• Students will develop critical thinking skills.
• Students will learn to explore and actualize their personal values.
• Students will gain a greater understanding of their own personal identities and how their identities shape their leadership and followership.

TITLE: Kanye vs Taylorkanye taylor
DESCRIPTION: Kanye West and Taylor Swift have a history that’s gone back and forth since Kanye interrupted Taylor on stage at the VMAs 7 years ago. His lyrics on a new song sparked up the heat again.
KANYE: I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. / Why? I made that (expletive) famous
TAYLOR: there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you’ll know it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”
this is similar to the telephone game.
Part One: Stand in line, but not close enough so that you can hear above a whisper. First person in line creates a statement that Kanye would make to Taylor Swift. Final person states out loud what was said. If correct the group wins. The game continues with part two.
Part Two: The second person creates a message that would serve as a message to to be passed along. Please remember when choosing messages they must be at least 10 words in length and must use the quotes from the artists as references.
•What made this difficult?
•Why did you choose that message to start? (To the message creators)
•What could have made this more efficient and effective?
•what was wrong and /or right about either artist’s statement
•Develop critical thinking methods
•Gain skills how to effectively communicate
